Tsavo West National Park is a beautiful, rugged wilderness offering some of the most magnificent game viewing in the world.

Tsavo is Kenya’s oldest and largest national park, measuring over 20,333 sq km. It was originally designated as Kenya’s first national park
in 1948. The savannah ecosystem comprises of open grasslands, scrublands and Acacia woodlands, belts of riverine vegetation and rocky ridges including the Poacher’s Lookout where visitors can see the teeming herds in the plains below.

The park borders Tanzania’s Mkomazi national park, Kenya’s Chyulu national park, Arabuko Sokoke national forest on the Kenyan coast and various sanctuaries, conservancies and group ranches. Given Tsavo’s sheer enormity and its unique eco-system, it has a very diverse landscape. From the cloud forest on the Chyulu Hills, semi arid scrub, volcanic lava fields, Jurassic age granite monoliths and the cliffs of the Yatta plateau, one of the world’s largest at roughly 290 km long, one can spend days and days and barely scratch the surface of what Tsavo has to offer.

Tsavo West National Park also boasts close proximity and some of the best views of Mt. Kilimanjaro’s peaks, as it borders Tanzania to the south. Its imposing magnitude is omnipotent making it arguably one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world.

Tsavo is of great conservational importance for Kenya. Being the
Largest Park in Kenya and also home to roughly 12,000 of the total population of Kenya’s Elephants. The park offers some of the most magnificent game viewing in the world and attractions include elephant, rhino, Hippos, lions, cheetah, leopards, Buffalos, diverse plant and bird species including the threatened corncrake and near threatened Basra Reed Warbler.
