Itinerary

Pick up from your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in the morning drive to Masai Mara through the Great Rift Valley which lies on the road built by Italian prisoners of war during the Second World War. You will see the charming chapel they built at the foot of the escarpment.

You will arrive in Masai Mara in time for lunch.

After the lunch, you will go for an afternoon game drive at the spectacular Masai mara game reserve.

Everything about Mara during this season is incredible. The wildlife is abundant, and the vast grasslands ensure that animals are rarely out of sight, and the Birdlife is impressive, great herds of elephant browse among the rich tree-studded grasslands, along with an occasional black rhino. Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelle, topi, eland and many more species of plains game offer rich pickings for the dominant predators – lion, leopard and cheetah – that hunt in this pristine wilderness. In the Mara River, hippos submerge at the approach of a vehicle, only to surface seconds later to snort and grumble their displeasure. Seemingly drowsy crocodiles sunbathe on the riverbanks, mouths agape, waiting with subtle cunning for prey at which to strike with lightning swiftness.

As the sun sets you will return to camp for dinner, followed by stargazing and story-time around the fireplace. When you’re ready, one of the Maasai night guards – known as Askaris – will escort you back to your tent

Dinner and overnight at the camp

Awake to the magnificent ‘wake up call’ symphony of Masai Mara’s astonishing birdlife. Enjoy a sumptuous breakfast before embarking on a full day safari in the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Abundant wildlife on the savannah gives fantastic photo opportunities. The incredible backdrop of clear blues and the rolling Savannah will captivate you providing you with memories to last a lifetime. Around midday your guide will locate a suitable Acacia Tree where you can relax and refuel on a picnic lunch.

Enjoy the amazing sights as you stalk the herds just like the lions and the cheetahs, capturing them with your lens and in your heart. Enjoy lunch in our open sky restaurant with views of clear skies and the gentle Savannah; there is never a dull moment on the savannah.

Return to camp at sundown for dinner followed by relaxation at the campfire as you tell of your experiences on the African wilderness

or

Begin with an early morning wakeup call and a steaming cup of coffee. Typically the client will get an adrenaline rush with a hot air balloon ride cutting through the cool air of the plains as herds of elephant, buffalo and zebra scatter in search of food below you. Upon landing- you are treated to a breakfast and your guide will then take you either back to the camp for a well deserved nap or continue on a game drive. Return for lunch and an afternoon nap. Later go out for an evening game drive retuning to camp for a hearty dinner and cold beer.

Dinner and overnight at the Camp

We leave the campsite with picnic lunches and drive through the southern part of the reserve viewing game as we proceed to the Tanzanian border at Isebania.  After customs and immigration procedures, we cross into Tanzania and continue  into serengeti with a  game drive enroute.

Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park, also a world heritage site and recently proclaimed a 7th world wide wonder, the Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Yet even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers arguably the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle.

Check in at Serengeti Katikati tented Camp for dinner and overnight

Full day  of game viewing in the Serengeti.

This is another full day game drive at Serengeti National Park, known for its healthy population of resident wildlife, particularly the “big five”, named for the five most prized trophies taken by hunters:

Lion: the Serengeti is believed to hold the largest population of lions in Africa due in part to the abundance of prey species. More than 3,000 lions live in this ecosystem.

African Leopard: these reclusive predators are commonly seen in the Seronera region but are present throughout the national park with the population of around 1,000.

African Elephant: the herds are recovering from population lows in the 1980s caused by poaching and are largely located in the northern regions of the park.

African Buffalo: considered by many to be the most dangerous of the big five, reportedly causing the most hunter deaths, with wounded animals reported to ambush and attack pursuers.

Rhinoceros: this may refer to either black or white rhinoceros. Among big five game hunters, the black rhinoceros is preferred, although it is now critically endangered.

Dinner and overnight at  Katikati Tented Camp.

After breakfast, we will have a full day game drive in Central Serengeti. Apart from the large mammals, Serengeti is also home to gaudy agama lizards; Rock hyraxes scuffle around the surfaces of the park’s isolated granite koppies. Wide varieties of dung beetle were found, and around 500 bird species have been recoded ranging from the outsized ostrich and bizarre secretary bird of the open grassland, to the black eagles that soar effortlessly above the Lobo Hills.

Optional recomended tour:

Visit a traditional Maasai village last thing in the afternoon, where one can see the traditional way of life of the Maasai tribe.

Dinner and overnight at  Katikati Tented Camp.

After breakfast you will head with picnic lunches towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area via Olduvai Gorge, the site of Louis and Mary Leakey’s renowned archaeological discoveries. Their findings include some of the man’s earliest known ancestral remains.

Ngorongoro is another UNESCO World Heritage Site located west of Arusha in the crater highlands of Tanzania. The area is named after the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest caldera. The stunning landscape of Ngorongoro, with its vast expanses of highland plains and concentration of wildlife, animals makes this place one of the most exotic natural wonders on earth.

Dinner & overnight at Ngorongoro Farm House.

This morning, you will descend 2000 feet (over 600 meters) to the floor of the crater for a day crater tour with picnic lunches. Explore the forest areas that are inhabited by monkey and elephant, the lake area, where you may see the flamingos and the open savannah where the lions hunt for food.

Discover the diverse areas of forest, swamplands, lakes and open grasslands in this volcanic caldera that’s home to the densest concentration of wildlife in Africa. There is good game viewing year-round, as most animals do not leave the crater. You might also spot Maasai tribesmen guiding their cattle down the steep crater walls to graze.

Dinner & overnight at Ngorongoro Farm House.

After breakfast, we head to Tarangire for a half day game drive in the park located slightly off the main safari route. Tarangire National Park is a lovely quiet park in Northern Tanzania most famous for its elephant migration, and birding safari with a quiet atmosphere.

In the Afternoon, we will pass by a shopping market on the way to the Airport after which, we will facilitate your transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight back to Nairobi.

Arrive at JomoKenyatta International airport in the evening where you will transfer to your Nairobi Hotel or wait for your flight back home bringing to an end 8 days of super exciting Kenya Tanzania Classic Safari with Seremara
